The Oregon Sculpture Trail began in 1911 with the creation of Lorado Taft's "Eternal Indian" statue, which everyone calls Blackhawk. The 48-foot concrete statue is located in Lowden State Park and can be viewed both close-up in the park and on Route 2 across the Rock River north of Oregon.
Additional pieces by several artists have been placed throughout Oregon in recent years including
"From the Waters Comes My Bounty" at Kiwanis Park, by Ray Kobald
"Agriculture, Mother of Civilization" in front of the Ogle County Judicial Center, by David Seagraves
"Cornball" in front of the Oregon Coliseum, by Howard Russo
"The Bountiful Bench" in front of the Oregon Library, by Christina Murphy
"Solar Reef" in the Oregon Park West, by Andrew Langoussis
"Making Hay" by the Stillman Bank, by Daniel Ingebrightson
