Lowell Park

Lowell Park is a 240-acre woodland along the Rock River that was originally part of the "Bales Trail" created in 1826 as a link between Peoria and Galena, Illinois. The Park boasts a distinguished presence in the person of President Ronald Reagan who, in 1926 at the age of 15, applied for the job as lifeguard at the Park.  He held the summer job for seven years.

The park has abundant beauty and serenity.  Enjoy a scenic drive, or picnic, access the Rock River and have fun fishing or simply enjoy the nature center.
