This FREE event will offer a mix of information centers and activities where guests, and especially kids, can learn to fish in the Y pool, try out archery, play on giant inflatables, or race their parents to the top of a climbing wall. Over 30 activities will be available. In addition to the activities, learning centers will offer critter talks featuring native and zoo animal presentations that run throughout the event. The event opens at noon and runs through 4pm at the Sterling-Rock Falls Family YMCA. Admission, activities, and a meal will be available to all, at no charge. Located across from the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, check out this family friendly carnival that hits all the marks of small town nostalgia. Ride the Zipper, buy yourself an elephant ear or let the kiddo's pick out a swimming duckie for a prize with the Rock River as your backdrop for the event.
This youth baseball tournament has grown by leaps and bounds, bringing in teams from all over. In 2016, the tournament is offering 2 weekends to accommodate all those teams that wish to participate. Played at multiple ball parks throughout Rock Falls, gives you a chance to root for the teams!
Sunday, May 22, 2016 marks the return of the Sterling Main Street Car Show to Downtown Sterling. Held once again in two lots at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and East 2nd Street - we've worked out the kinks using this bigger location and you're sure to be pleased. We've also partnered with a new car club in the area, the Sauk Valley Shifters Car Club to join their annual SWAP-O-RAMA swap meet with our event. 3D Sounds is once again our Master of Ceremonies for the day. Advance registration is now open- just $12; day of registration is $15. This is a judged show, with awards for the Top 40 vehicles and a Best of Show. New this year will be a Mayor's Choice Award and the Sauk Valley Shifters will have a special award for their choice of Best Rat Rod.Dash Plaques for the first 100 entries. Lots of giveaways throughout the day and a whole lot of fun.
