Some of the finest artists from Norhtwestern Illinois and the Midwest gather each year at the John Deere Historic Site grounds for the Annual Grand Detour Arts Festival Juried Fine Arts Event.
The annual event takes place in late summer and is open to the public to take in the talent and displays of more than 40 artists working in a variety of mediums including oil, pastel, acrylic and watercolor paints, as well as sculpture, photography, jewelry and pottery. All artists will display pieces for exhibit and purchase. Both adult and student pieces are judged throughout the day. Cash prizes are awarded to adults, and savings bonds will be presented to student artists.
Food vendors will be on-site, and several musicians will provide entertainment. Admission is just a few dollars per person and children 11 and younger are free. Admission also includes admittance to the John Deere Historic Site exhibits and blacksmith demonstrations throughout the day.
